It began over a few cold beers. We even laughed. We never really saw ourselves being here. But we were tired of the ever-consolidating world of the big eating the small and of their being so few bold voices. Where are those genre-defying stories? Is this really it, sinking beer and licking Ben and Jerrys? Where is the disruption?

Christmas 2017. There's Jack Martin, Liam Toal and me, Will Clay, sinking a few cool ones back home in Ontario, Canada. It's the same old: lets do something! It was our annual get-together, only this time we parted ways with a plan.

Publish and be damned! Independent presses are dropping like proverbial flies. Our own literary influences from university like Bukowski, Fante, Selby Junior and The Beats, if not taken up by global conglomerates, were barely in print.

Audax Books aims to outbox the logic that says indie book publishers are done for from the get go!
As a low budget imprint, we aim to keep our cost base low by focusing on innovations in e-publishing. While we don't intend competing with advances being offered by the Big Five (or 500!), we do however aim to dig deep and look for authors with whom we may establish a long-lasting relationship. |
